When working thought the various phases of a project, we have to develop a series of BIM objects based on the Level of Graphic Detail (LOgD) per design stage
As a guide ..
Concept design (CD) (stage 2 would typically be LOgD 200
Scheme Design (SD) (stage 3) would be LOgD 300
Detail Design (DD) (stage 4) would be LOgD 350/400
At each stage the amount of detail per BIM objects gets more detailed.
As it stands OBD has no options to show this, so we end up designing all stages with the same LOgD. Thus if we produce at SD GA @1:200 or 1:500 the view is over developed and looks a mess.
Other applications such as REVIT, have the option to toggle the BIM object to Course, Medium and Fine. As their model moves through the design stages they simply swap the LOgD.
In OBD we have to have 3 different BM objects and literally swap them out at each stage. which is a mess, time consuming and in some cases results in miss alignment of objects ie based on their placement points.
We need a nice working solutions such as Revit's
