During the OBD 26 presentation, we were encouraged to submit ideas, report recurring frustrations, and vote on improvements.
Which immediately raised a question:
If this page is so important, why do so few people use it?
I've been working in OBD for 6 years and, honestly, I've visited this page exactly once.
Not because I don't have opinions.
Not because I don't encounter recurring issues.
Not because I don't want the software to improve.
A colleague literally had to send me the link and ask me to vote.
The reality is that most of us spend our days inside OBD trying to meet deadlines, deliver projects, and solve problems. We don't necessarily spend time browsing forums, searching websites, or remembering where feedback portals live.
And when a recurring frustration finally reaches the point where we think:
"There really should be a better way to do this..."
that's exactly when we're least likely to stop working and spend 10 minutes searching for the correct feedback page.
So here's the idea:
Add a small 💡 "Ideas & Feedback" button directly inside OBD (for example under Help).
One click.
Instant access to:
Submit ideas
Report recurring frustrations
Vote on existing suggestions
See what other users are asking for
If Bentley genuinely wants more user engagement and better feedback, the biggest improvement may not be collecting more ideas.
It may simply be making the idea page impossible to miss.
Let's remove the friction from fixing friction. 🚀
Because if users have to search for the feedback page, the feedback has already lost. 😉
| How frequently will feature be used? | A few times a week |
| How much time will you save? | You will get more feedback - and we will get the tools we need in under a year |
Wonderful idea, I've had the same problem finding this section having been using Bentley for longer than I care to remember. Feedback button would be great.
