In Grid systems menu there is a possibity to import XML files. But I receive IFC or RVT files. And mostley there is a grid IFCGrid. Is it possible to import this IFCGrid into OpenBuilding and also the levels of the floor in the floor manager. Because this information is already in the file. And this is the I of BIM. So for developteam maybe a challenge to create an icon in Floormanager and Gridsystem.

Hello Guest,
As die hard Bentley user I vote yes to do the import the levels. As Bentley user mostly we can modify or delete elements/floors we don't nescesary need.
Hi Andy, thank you for this interesting idea! As we understand it you want to make use of the IFC grid information in an IFC file. We will monitor further user feedback on this idea to decide upon implementation accordingly.
Thank you for your reply, because it is a geat idea. But Bentley developers have to digin to it. I hope in the next update it will be there!
Thank you
Your BIM colleague
Great request!
I'd focus on importing from IFC and eventually iModel maybe? Problem with Revit files is that they usually have a LOT of "levels" (=floors in OBD) to easy the modelling. This doesn't necessarily mean they also correspond to real floors.
I'd say this needs some kind of interface maybe to select which floors to import. Dalux has a very nice way of doing that when importing floors from models, very similar to what we'd try to achieve here.
Second thing with the import process is to make a good way of assigning floors to buildings and grids to floors. Although I think IFC supports this in a similar way as OBD software like Revit doesn't have the concept of multiple buildings for example.
