It will be appreciate to have a better respect of the general Windows convention in these two dialog boxes.
1) They are similar but they are working differently
2) When an entity is editable in the tree or in the listview (right side), F2 or a slow double-click must give access to a the rename function in place : you must right-click and choose an option now to access to the rename.
3) When editing parts, a double click on a part could open the properties dialog box to edit it in the same maneer the option in the menu works.

I think the chance to combine them was lost in the transfer from V8i to Connect. There was a chance since this would allow to create a new software which didn't need to be backwards compatible. The irony is early Connect and V8i are more compatible then some Connect versions are to one another (like the recent addition of Compound Slabs). I think some opportunities were lost by focusing to much on things like 64bit and the ribbon interface.
Hello Philippe, thank you for your valuable idea! Unfortunately, we will not be able to incorporate this idea in the near future but keep it in mind for general UI and workflow improvements of the Family/Parts Editor and Catalog Editor.
