Analysing the effects of overheating is becoming an integral part of the design of buildings, driven by ongoing changes to the building regulations. These interactive tools for analytical modeling, exemplified by OBD's integration with Energy Simulator / Hevacomp, should be extended to address the external spaces surrounding buildings.
At the site level, modeling tools like OpenSite Designer would benefit through integration of apps like Envi-met and Vue PlantFactory to provide landscape designers with a robust analytical modeling tool that will allow them to incorporate the effects of MRT and other climatic factors into their designs.
At the urban scale, OpenCities and itwins could provide the platform for environmental analysis.
